IRONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — Irondale residents will have a chance to hear from their mayor and build community engagement this week.

Mayor James D. Stewart has visited nine of Irondale’s neighborhoods since July as part of the city’s “Town Hall Train” series. The town halls are structure-free and allow for open conversations between residents and Mayor Stewart.

Stewart says his main goal is to learn about the needs and wants of Irondale’s citizens. He says the best way to stay in touch with your community is to connect with people where they are.

“It’s just easier to be able to get a chance to meet me and ask me directly anything instead of relying on what you heard from a friend, what you heard from Facebook, what you read in an article, you get an opportunity to be able to interrogate me for an entire hour,” Stewart said.
