The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy on Saturday hosted its annual White Coat Ceremony for the incoming students from the Class of 2028 on the Amarillo campus.

Krystal Haase, Pharm.D., TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy regional dean, led the 28 students assigned to the Amarillo campus as they received their traditional white coat and began their four-year pharmacy school journey. These students are from many cities in the Panhandle and throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Puerto Rico.

The white coat is one of the most visible symbols of the health care profession. This ceremony recognizes the transformation from simply being a student to becoming a student-pharmacist, with the central obligation to professionalism and patient care.

The incoming class includes 120 students who attend the TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy on campuses in Lubbock, Amarillo, Dallas and Abilene.

Nine of these new students will participate in the Pioneer Pathway, a hybrid degree plan that allows students to take classes online and in person.
