Ohio State target Messiah Delhomme sets announcement time

It is decision day for Newport News (VA) Warwick 2025 safety Messiah Delhomme , as the 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect will announce his college destination intentions between Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Alabama, Syracuse, and Maryland.

Delhomme told Lettermen Row on Saturday morning that he will reveal his decision at 7 PM Eastern Time, confirming that his announcement will take place today after the tropical storm that hit the Southeast Region of the country threatened to delay the commitment.

The Latest Intel on Ohio State and Delhomme

Lettermen Row dropped the latest intel on Delhomme on Thursday , which virtually said that while Ohio State has been chasing him for quite some time, that the Buckeyes were trending towards not giving him the green light to commit for this announcement.

In checking with sources on Friday, it seemed like there was some debate as to whether that sentiment would hold entering Saturday, and at one point near the day’s end, the door looked possibly open for things to change.

But on decision day morning, the latest intel points to the “red light” holding firm, and unless there is a complete last minute 180 here from the Ohio State staff, the expectation is that Delhomme will end up with one of the other three finalists.

The Prediction

I feel very confident that if Delhomme had the green light to Ohio State that he would have been a Buckeye come decision time. Given that things have shifted, it makes predicting this recruitment a bit trickier.

It wouldn’t be completely surprising to see Delhomme possibly push a decision back, but if he decides to move forward with announcing a final destination, I think Virginia Tech would be my pick.

I know the in-state Cavaliers are certainly in this one, but I have felt that the Hokies have been the biggest threat to the Buckeyes in landing Delhomme, and I think the folks in Blacksburg will be happy to add a solid playmaker to their defense later this evening. Maryland would also be in the mix but I don’t think Syracuse and Alabama have been as involved as the other four schools.

Delhomme is ranked as a 4-star, the No. 188 overall player, and the No. 7 athlete in the country per the On3 Industry Rankings .
