Friday evening will start with a few remaining clouds and lingering showers. It will be breezy to start off, with wind gusts pushing 20 mph, so take a sweater if you plan to go out to the State Fair of West Virginia tonight. Cloud cover and winds will continue to subside tonight, making for a mostly clear overnight as temps drop into the 50s!
Saturday starts the weekend on a great note once we get passed a chilly morning. Building high pressure will give us a mostly sunny look under some very calm winds. Our calm weather will stick around during the evening and overnight, perfect for the firework show at the State Fair. The best part will be temps only in the 70s for the afternoon!
Sunday maintains our chilly morning start with temps in just the 50s & 60s! If you’re driving to either morning church or to enjoy the State Fair early, expect plenty of sunshine as temps get into the upper 60s by lunchtime. Middle 70s during the afternoon will make a great excuse for anyone wanting to enjoy some time outside!
Monday again looks great as enjoy one more day of high pressure around. It will start off with temps in the 50s once again, slowly climbing into the middle to upper 70s by dinnertime. High pressure will slowly loose control overnight as clouds begin to build in, allowing temps overnight to drop into the 50s.
Tuesday sees a weak shortwave pass through, first during the morning with chances for hit or miss showers. Won’t be a total washout but some wet roadways do look possible. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible during the afternoon timeframe, but we’ll see plenty of breaks. Enough of those and we’ll see temps near 80.
Wednesday is trending mostly dry outside a stray shower in the morning. Best chances will be closer to Virginia with most to all of West Virginia missing their chances for more rain. The rest of the day will see a mix of clouds and sunshine, and given a fairly dry second half, temps will try to climb into the 80s.
Thursday brings in another shortwave from the west, providing the chance for some showers in the morning. Isolated to scattered showers and afternoon thunderstorms might ruin the outdoor fun at the fair, but at least we get more chances for rain. Additional showers and clouds will keep our temps down a bit into the upper 70s.
Friday brings in another brief dry spell as our shortwave passes down to the south. Partly cloudy skies in the morning will slowly bring in chances for mostly sunny skies during the afternoon. Might be a good excuse to see Oliver Anthony at the Grandstand at the State Fair at 8 PM as temps go from the 80s into the 60s overnight.
In your extended forecast, isolated to scattered showers will be possible during the following weekend though again nothing widespread at this point. Temps will slowly start to climb back into the 80s, approaching the middle to upper 80s towards the end of the weekend.
