Officials searching for men who broke into two power substations, stole thousands of dollars in copper wires

UTAH COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Officials are seeking help from the public regarding two men who broke into several Rocky Mountain Power substations and stole thousands of dollars worth of wires.

Both the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and the Springville Police Department posted photos of the suspects to ask for assistance searching for them.

The photos of the suspects were shared in a “Blues Clues”-inspired post (hence the blue paw prints on the photos) with a description of the men.

“Disheveled skinny guys who don’t care about other peoples property,” the police department said. “One with high cheek bones, that make his beard pop and one who could maybe use a visit to the chiropractor.”

According to the sheriff’s office, the men broke into a Rocky Mountain Power substation in Vineyard before 4 a.m. on Aug. 3. From the Vineyard substation, they reportedly stole $8,000 worth of copper grounding wire.

The Springville Police Department said the pair also broke into a substation on 1600 South in Springville. The suspects reportedly cut the fence to get into the substation before cutting “A LOT of copper wire from the ground at the substation,” police said.

The suspects caused thousands of dollars in damage, according to officials.
