GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – A popular Greenville cafe has announced it will close its doors after more than 50 years in business.

Cafe and Then Some, located on College Street in Greenville, announced Wednesday it’s plans to close down in November 2025.

An employee at the cafe said the business is shutting down in part due to difficulties with the state’s liquor liability insurance laws. Cafe and Then Some’s liquor liability license expires in fall 2025.

Before it can close, the cafe plans to continue treating customers to the shows, food and drinks regulars have come to know over the years.

Cafe and Then Some opened 50 years ago in Greenville. It is the creation of Susan and Bill Smith. The couple play multiple characters, and Bill is known for writing many of the parody songs performed at Cafe and Then Some

“We hope that you can come on down and share the moment with us as we say goodbye. We have a lot of good memories here,” the cafe wrote on Facebook. “Help us have a couple more. We will finish this show, do a seasonal (Christmas) show and then a best of. Here’s to nearly five decades of silliness. Thank you Greenville.”
