Behind the pitching of Saverio Longo and a 14-hit offensive barrage, the Council Rock Newtown Little League team defeated Maryland 11-1 Tuesday to advance to the Mid-Atlantic Region championship game, scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. against an opponent to be determined. A win Friday sends CR Newtown onto Williamsport with a berth in the Little League World Series.

CR Newtown's aggressive swinging, led by Tyler Neeld (three hits), and Greyson Gage (three RBIs), resulted in the game being called in the 4th inning for the 10-run rule. The team now has amassed 27 hits in its two regional games at Bridgeport, Connecticut.
