The Poconos are expected to see heavy rain, and potentially flooding, as a result of Tropical Storm Debby.

Carbon and Monroe counties are under a flood watch from 2 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday morning.

"A cold front will approach from the north and west today and will cross the region late tonight through Wednesday morning," the National Weather Service said. "This front will interact with tropical moisture associated with Tropical Storm Debby to result in heavy downpours over the area. Rainfall totals will average 1.5 to 2.5 inches, but locally higher amounts could exceed 5 inches."

Additionally, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Pike and Wayne counties.

"Scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight may produce heavy downpours and localized flash flooding. A few thunderstorms may be locally severe producing isolated damaging wind gusts and hail," the NWS said.

"There is the potential for heavy rainfall and areas of flooding Friday into Saturday as tropical moisture associated with Debby is drawn northward toward the area," the NWS added.
