BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Games of Texas were in full swing at the Brownsville Sports Park this weekend.

Some of the events were postponed due to rain last weekend.

On Saturday night flag football got underway with a total of 18 teams coming out to compete in the 5 on 5 games. The 8 on 8 was played Sunday morning with the youth program in the afternoon.

The flag football organizer said the turnout was great with teams from Texas and Mexico coming to participate.

“We have a team that made the trip from Monterrey and a team from Matamoros came to participate, and then we have several teams that are local teams that played in this tournament. But also the upper valley that supported this event,” said Tuffy Martinez, organizer.

The Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department said they rescheduled six sports for this weekend.

The Brownsville Sports Park hosted four of those rescheduled competitions.
