(WNCT) – After thunderstorms rolled through parts of eastern North Carolina, local electric cooperatives and power companies reported numerous outages.

The most concentrated area of customers impacted by the weather was in Duplin County. Four-County Electric Membership Corporation said power crews were working to restore power. At 3 p.m., power had been restored to nearly half of the outages in that county, according to a post on Facebook.

The cooperative’s outage map indicated more than 2,000 customers were without power at 4:15pm Saturday afternoon.

Edgecombe-Martin County Electric Membership Corporation reported more than 300 of its members had been affected by the storms.

Only a small number of outages were reported by Greenville Utilities, mainly to customers north of the Tar River near the Stokes community, according to the Greenville Utilities outage map. Those customers’ power appeared to be restored a short time later.

A small number of members served by Jones-Onslow Electric were impacted by the outages, as well.

Elsewhere, Duke Energy reported scattered power outages across eastern North Carolina Saturday afternoon. More than 300 customers in Craven County were without power, according to the online Duke Energy outage map. A small number of Duke customers also were without power in Carteret, Onslow, and Edgecombe Counties.

Glad to know all power is restored. You really don't appreciate the work done by the power companies until it happens to you.
