Phoenix police arrested a man Wednesday after they say he allegedly beat another man to death on the street.

27-year-old Uriah Mcintosh was arrested on suspicion of homicide after authorities say he punched and kicked a man outside of a business near Indian School Road and Interstate 17, according to court documents.

Officials responded to a call for an injured person near midnight on July 25 to find a non-responsive man lying on the sidewalk with severe head injuries.

They took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy report revealed the man had multiple head fractures, a broken nose and a brain hemorrhage, according to court documents. The medical examiner ruled his death as a homicide.

According to witnesses, the victim was intoxicated and might have touched two women inappropriately on the night of the incident. Court documents said a group of people told the man he needed to leave the area.

One witness alleged they saw Mcintosh follow the victim after he left, but no one witnessed the assault.

Video surveillance from multiple locations around the scene showed footage of the man walking on the sidewalk with another man and a woman. After the woman left, the video showed the man falling to the ground and being kicked in the head by the other man, later identified as Mcintosh.

Mcintosh was found on video cameras in the area walking near other businesses when he went into a gas station and bought a beer. The footage taken from inside the gas station was clear enough for authorities to capture Mcintosh's face.

During the investigation, a witness identified the man in the footage and provided his address to police. Authorities confirmed Mcintosh was the man living at the residence and arrested him at his home on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Mcintosh was on probation at the time of the arrest and had met with his probation officer the morning of the incident, according to court documents.

In an interview with police, Mcintosh admitted to punching the man and witnessed him falling to the ground, but he denied kicking him and said he did not know the man had died.
