Another person in Dallas County has been diagnosed with West Nile Virus. This is the sixth human case so far this season. The woman lives in northern Dallas.

Health officials say she has been diagnosed with West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease, which is the more serious form of the disease.

The virus is spread to humans by mosquitoes. Officials with Dallas County Health and Human Services are urging people to take steps to limit their exposure to mosquitoes.

Those steps include using insect repellent with DEET, draining standing water around your home where mosquitoes can lay their eggs, and limiting your time outdoors when mosquitoes are most active.
