A 22-year-old Riverside man drowned in Silverwood Lake over the weekend, authorities said.

Erik Orellana was reported missing by family members who had accompanied him to the lake on Sunday, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said.

A California State Parks driver discovered Orellana submerged in water shortly after 3 p.m., she said.

He was taken to Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, where he was pronounced dead, San Bernardino County coroner's records show.

Coroner's investigators ruled the death to be accidental.

It was the second recreational drowning reported in a High Desert lake in less than three weeks.

Edin Hernandez-Reyes, 19, of Victorville drown in the Deep Creek Spillway near Hesperia on July 9, authorities said at the time.

He was swimming with family members when he went underwater and drowned, according to the sheriff's department.

Good Samaritans pulled Hernandez-Reyes to shore and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, officials said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

A coroner's investigation deemed the death accidental.
