Tempe’s ongoing investment in residents’ water continues with the recent completion of the North Tempe Waterline Replacement Project which targeted 4.6 miles of waterline that was due for replacement.

The completion of this project marks 10 years of continuous waterline design and construction that replaced approximately 44 miles of pipe that had reached the end of its useful life, a city release explained.

In the last year, the city replaced water lines in six key areas of north Tempe, including segments of Scottsdale and Curry roads, Papago Manor Neighborhood, Concord Village, Rio East Neighborhood, Maple Ash Neighborhood, Eaton University Industrial Park and Rolling Hills Golf Course.

The waterlines in these areas were identified by Tempe as due for replacement by Tempe’s waterline replacement program, according to the release.

Going forward, Tempe’s waterline replacement program works to replace water mains around the city using a systematic approach, evaluating age, material and break history to prioritize areas and determine a replacement schedule.

The North Tempe Waterline Replacement Project is part of a series of community reinvestments known as Refresh Tempe.

Within the last several years, Tempe City Council has been increasing reinvestments in parks, streets, golf courses and more. Refresh Tempe aims to add and maintain Tempe amenities and infrastructure to improve the quality of life for all community members, the release explained.
