Who the Dallas Mavericks might pick in the 2024 NBA draft

The NBA draft starts tonight and the Dallas Mavericks have just one pick — No. 58, the last of the second round.

The big picture: There's no clear No. 1 pick in this draft, unlike last year, when the San Antonio Spurs picked Victor Wembanyama.

State of play: Dallas fans are expecting the Mavericks to build on their success from last season.

    • Dallas conveyed its first-round pick to the New York Knicks as the final condition of a 2019 seven-player deal.
    • The team may need another athletic wing player in case they don't re-sign free agent Derrick Jones Jr.

Who we're watching: If they're still on the board, these could be Mavs' draft targets:

    • Bronny James : He isn't the best prospect, only averaging 4.8 points per game in his sole season as a USC Trojan. But, he is LeBron James' son.
    • Jalen Bridges : The Baylor forward has a skill set reminiscent of former Mavs forward Dorian Finney-Smith.
    • Trentyn Flowers : The 19-year-old shooting guard/small forward played professionally in Australia for a year.
    • Emanuel Miller : Originally from Canada, Miller played five years of college ball at Texas A&M and TCU.

Meanwhile: The Mavs could get another second round pick if they trade a future second round pick for another one this year.
