2 Timothy 4:7 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". Paul wrote this verse while in prison and near the end of his life, as a reminder that the Christian life is not always easy and that following Jesus involves challenges and struggles. In 2 Timothy, Paul writes to Timothy to encourage him to stand strong in his faith and rely on the written Word of God, especially as Paul faces his own impending death.
