MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Maryland State Police (MSP) said that a trooper was hit by a driver who may have been under the influence early Wednesday morning.

The trooper was inside a marked vehicle with lights on in a work zone on the outer loop of I-495 near Greentree Road in Montgomery County just after 1 a.m. MSP said that he was parked in lane one of the work zone — two lanes were blocked with orange traffic cones, arrow boards and signs.

37-year-old Nithya Ramani of Montgomery Village was driving and traveled into the work zone, hitting the back of the trooper’s car. She was not hurt, according to MSP.
