    Good morning, Sandusky County.

The weather could be rough the next several days, with high temperatures around 91 degrees and a low tonight of 67 degrees.

The National Weather Service is predicting hazardous weather conditions for both Ottawa and Sandusky counties and much of the Lake Erie shores and islands.

Isolated strong to severe storms are possible this evening. Damaging wind gusts and large hail will be the primary threats. There is growing confidence in a heat wave setting up Sunday through early next week that may result in heat-related impacts across the area, especially in traditionally warmer locations like urban centers.

'Be aware': Scammers are attacking everyone

This special from USA TODAY Network Ohio reporter Zach Tuggle is for everyone from older adults to business professionals.

Scams against all age groups and demographics are on the rise in Ohio with no promise of going away anytime soon.

Con artists have become so active in the area that the Ashland Police Department reported a 62% increase in fraud and forgery cases in April and May over the two months prior.

Earlier this spring, the FBI announced its Internet Crimes Complaint Center had noticed a 14% increase in allegations of fraud against older adults in 2023 than the year before, which led to 11% more losses than in 2022.

Something to do this weekend: free fishing and comic books

With Father's Day on Sunday, many families will choose to have a happy get-together, perhaps with a barbecue. But I offer up two options that don't require staying at home and are limited to this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday are Free Fishing Days in Ohio, thanks to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources not requiring the standard $25 fishing license. Here are some links with more information.

Maybe the outdoors and natural world aren't your thing? Then jump into the world of fiction by meeting comic book writer Dirk Manning.

The elusive best-selling writer and creator will make an appearance Saturday at Rupp’s Comics, in Fremont, during the store's annual summer sale. There will also be 50,000 comics for sale at 50 cents each.

“Dirk will be here at Rupp's Comics all day Saturday talking comics, movies, Godzilla and more,” Rupp's Comics owner Chris Rupp said. “He has been basically doing a lot of graphic novels, lately. That’s essentially the book form of comics. He’s just one of those great writers who can really talk to you.”

Though he hides part of his face, Svengoolie-like, during public appearances, Manning is considered an industry professional who is personable and a fan of pop culture.

Rupp's Comics is at 335 N. Ohio Ave. The store is online at www.facebook.com/RuppsWorld.
