BENTON, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Crews setting up a carnival were called to help save a horse that had fallen into a pit Wednesday in Columbia County.

According to Chief James Albertson of the Benton Fire Company, the call came in around 10:30 a.m. for a horse stuck in a pit.

Fire crews say the horse fell into the pit as it was grazing in a pasture. Local farmers helped the department get the horse out of the pit.

The horse was safely removed and is reportedly doing well.
