CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — If you’re a Jeopardy! fan and have been following along with this week’s episodes, you may have noticed that a fellow West Virginian has had quite an impressive winning streak.

Adriana Harmeyer who now lives in West Layfette, Indiana, originally grew up in Huntington where she graduated from Spring Valley High School in 2006 and continued her education at Marshall University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in Latin.

Harmeyer has always known that she wanted to be a contestant on Jeopardy! and finally got the chance to live out that dream.

“To just walk out on the set and just be at Jeopardy!, you know. Jeopardy! is supposed to be a thing on TV not this place where there’s the board and there are the podiums, and this is it. So, that was just amazing to just be there in person. I was ready to just go and try to have fun with it, with no expectations, but knowing that actually I can do this, that’s really nice,” Harmeyer told 12 News.

Harmeyer said that she’s very thankful for the support that she’s received while being on the show.

“I never imagined that I’d get such a big, positive response. It’s just been universally positive, great. So many people are rooting for me, and I just didn’t quite expect that going in,” she said.

Harmeyer has won Jeopardy! five times so far with her winnings totaling $116,200. You can catch her sixth episode Wednesday, June 5 at 7 p.m. on WBOY-NBC.
