Stay in a converted school bus at this West Virginia campground

CLEVELAND, W.Va. (WBOY) — A new community of renovated school buses might be one of the grooviest and most unique campgrounds in West Virginia.

Wild Wonderful Skoolies and Camping is a new overnight stay option just four miles from Holly River State Park in northern Webster County. The campground has five themed school buses that are converted into mobile homes, and according to owner Sheena Jordan, it’s the only campground of its type in the country.

Each “skoolie” has a 1970s, Woodstock-type vibe with pond or stream views and pond access for fishing. Skoolies come with a mini fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and air conditioning inside as well as a picnic table and firepit outside. There is a sink for water in each bus and a bathhouse than all campers can use.

For up to four guests, choose between the Cozy Cherry Blossom Bus or the Woodstock Hippie Retreat, which each have a queen sized bed and two futons. For groups of three or fewer, the Ivy Couples Retreat, Pioneer Bus, and Pond View Skoolie Bus are options as well; they each have a queen sized bed and one couch or futon.

Jordan said her family originally converted the Ivy retreat for their own personal use, but after receiving so many requests to rent it, they decided to create a full campground of buses. They are also in the process of building a sixth skoolie to add to the campground. She said as far as they know, Wild Wonderful Skoolies is the only campground in America that is made fully of converted buses.

Prices range from $80-120 per night, depending on which skoolie you rent and what dates. All five skoolies are available to rent on Airbnb at the following links:
