    20 people arrested in Arkansas after seizure of stolen guns, illegal drugs

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Arkansas State Police arrested 20 people in Lee County after a nine-hour operation led to the discovery of stolen firearms and illegal drugs.

    The operation began at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24 and ended at 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. In that time, the Arkansas State Police conducted a saturation initiative in Lee County, resulting in the seizure of illegal items including five firearms, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy pills and illegal marijuana.

    Three of the five confiscated firearms were reported as stolen.

    During the operation, ASP issued 156 citations for various offenses. Eight individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated, and troopers also made two felony arrests.

    Additional citations were issued including 13 for speeding, 22 for not wearing a seatbelt, and 10 for not using child restraints.

    According to ASP, they made a total of 278 contacts during the operation.

    “The most significant success of the operation was the response from the community, “ASP Captain Philip Hydron, Troop D Commander said. “They expressed genuine appreciation for our presence and the proactive stance of law enforcement in addressing criminal activities.”
