    Scam caller pretends to be the New Kent County Sheriff

    NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The New Kent County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam caller claiming to be the New Kent County Sheriff.

    The sheriff’s office says it became aware of scam calls that were circulating in the county, with the caller claiming to be Sheriff Bailey and other members of the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office.

    Authorities said the scam caller is telling people that they have a warrant and they need to pay money or they will go to jail.

    The sheriff’s office would like to warn residents to not answer these calls or provide any identifying or financial information to them.
