In a shock fight announcement, Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen are set to add a final chapter to their iconic rivalry.

Silva has been competing in boxing since stepping away from MMA and that is where his next fight will take place.

Sonnen, on the other hand, hasn't competed in any form of combat since his final MMA fight in 2019 , where he was stopped by Lyoto Machida.

The contest is set to be an exhibition match and it will take place on June 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil .

Despite both men having a long history with one another, Sonnen doesn't believe it is the same source of motivation.

Chael Sonnen Says His Motivation To Beat Anderson Silva Doesn't Go Both Ways

In a video on his YouTube channel, Sonnen spoke about the fight and why he decided to compete once again.

"The Bad Guy" has no problem stating that his two fights with Silva in 2010 and 2012 were the biggest of his career as part of an iconic feud over the UFC middleweight title.

Having lost on both occasions, Sonnen said that he has all the motivation he needs to put in as much hard work as possible for this fight.

However, he isn't sure that the same can said for "The Spider" who might not place the same amount of emphasis on his two previous encounters with The Bad Guy.

"We could thumb wrestle, we could arm wrestle, whatever the competition is, it's going to be a fight and the number one thing that you're inspired to do is damage. He is going to try to hurt me, I am going to try to hurt him. Now I have my own personal reasons against Anderson and I would imagine they're not even.

"I think about that man for the last 12 years every single day at some point, I don't think he thinks about me. My experience with Anderson is the single most important piece of my career, whether that means something to you or not. It was my career, it means to something to me and without him it doesn't work."
