Jeannie Mai Says ‘Cassie’s Voice Has Been A Shield And Sanctuary’ For Her After Accusing Jeezy Of Physical Abuse Amid Divorce

Jeannie Mai , 45, says she sees herself in Cassie , 37, claiming her “voice has been a shield and sanctuary” for her after recently accusing her estranged husband Jeezy , 46, of physical abuse amid their divorce.

As Jeannie Mai and her rapper ex Jeezy, born Jay Wayne Jenkins, continue to battle things out in court amid their divorce, another former couple has been making headlines: Diddy , 54, born Sean Combs, and Cassie, born Cassandra Ventura.

As we’ve previously shared, after Cassie filed her $30 million civil lawsuit last November, alleging abuse, rape, and sex trafficking against Diddy, a video was released on May 17 showing the rap mogul assaulting his then-girlfriend at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. Days after the video release, on May 19, Diddy took to his Instagram and shared an apology, taking “full accountability” for his actions seen by millions.

Days after Diddy’s controversial apology, on Thursday (May 23), Cassie released her own statement on Instagram that read, “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers, and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”

Cassie continued, “Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in. I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never-ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you.”

According to PEOPLE, Jeannie Mai commented under Cassie’s statement and shared how the singer’s testimony of being physically abused by Diddy is an experience she finds familiar as she’s recently called out her own husband Jeezy.

Mai wrote, “In every echo of your bravery, Cassie, there lies a melody of hope that dances through the silence. Your voice has been a shield and sanctuary for many, including me. Thank you for turning your fight into your light.”

In an April court filing obtained by PEOPLE, Jeannie Mai alleged that she experienced several instances of domestic abuse and child neglect during her relationship with Jeezy. She alleged that during their time together he had shown “explosive outbursts, excessive drinking, and domestic violence.”

Responding to Mai’s claims, Jeezy shared a statement on Instagram denying the allegations, calling them “not only false but also deeply disturbing, especially coming from someone I loved.” He wrote, “This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is ridiculous. It’s disheartening to witness the manipulation and deceit at play and at this time my main concern is being an active father to our daughter as I continue to fight for court-mandated joint custody. Rest assured, the truth will prevail through the proper legal channels.”

Jeannie Mai and Jeezy got married in 2021, welcomed a daughter named Monaco Mai Jenkins , now 2, and then in September 2023, Jeezy filed for divorce, calling their marriage “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”
