Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas partnered with Digital Workforce Academy in January for a Pipefitter Helper Pre-Apprenticeship class that began with 15 students.

13 students have graduated from the program and are now certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research.

This class was funded using the Local First donation provided by Golden Triangle Polymers Company, a new facility under construction in Orange County.

The organization also has a strong partnership with maintenance and engineering, procurement and construction contractors in the region.

After this successful graduation, Workforce staff is working with contractors and other local employers to provide the students with employment opportunities.

To date, seven of the graduates have successfully found employment.

Additionally, an engineering, procurement and construction contractor has committed to consider hiring 13 graduates for entry level positions at the Orange County Advanced Power project from the April class and the Lowes Gable-NCCER grant cohort slated to graduate on May 17.

Workforce Solutions leaders say their team continues working to build a world-class, competitive workforce in Southeast Texas, using local partners and leveraging resources.
