The Raiders Almost Picked Terrion Arnold Over Brock Bowers?

The Raiders decided to select Brock Bowers with the 13th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. I actually gave the team a passing draft grade for the first time in what seems like forever. It turns out that some luck may have been involved with the Bowers pick. Did they almost pick Terrion Arnold instead?

The former Alabama cornerback had some interesting comments after the draft. Arnold was picked by the Lions 25th overall. It turns out he was on the wrong side of the coin in order to be picked 13th. Arnold says the Raiders flipped a coin who to pick in the first round.

“The Raiders coach, they called me after the draft, they were actually like, ‘We had a coin toss between you and Brock Bowers and landed on him,’” Arnold said.

The Raiders brass has predictably refuted this report. That includes Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco . I’m just not sure we should believe them. Recently Michael Lombardi on the GM Shuffle podcast (18:42 mark) noted that Telesco wasn’t even in the War Room for the draft and was sitting in his office by himself running zoom meetings. Who the hell knows what really went down. I just wouldn’t discount a coin flip going down deciding on this pick. We’re talking about the Raiders…

Feel free to comment. Do you think the Raiders are really dumb enough to settle an NFL Draft debate with a coin flip? If they really did do that, they got so damn lucky. Picking Arnold at 13 when the first corner went with Philly at pick 22 would have been quite the move by Vegas.
