From the satin striped train to the bird on her shoulder, Zendaya looks like she just escaped from the Garden of Eden. Although fans might’ve expected a Challengers -inspired fit, we know Zendaya always sticks to the theme—and this ensemble hits the nail on the head.

After Pat McGrath nailed the glass skin look at Maison Margiela’s spring couture show, she teamed up with Zendaya to deliver another truly avant-garde makeup look. Zendaya wore dramatic smokey eyes, berry lips, and McGrath’s signature pencil thin brows. The look is one we’ll be thinking about for years to come—and the ensemble she changed into was somehow even more mindblowing.

For her second look of the night, Zendaya wore a jet black evening gown with a lengthy train—one that elegantly covered eight of the steps on the iconic Met Gala staircase. The gown features a strapless neckline, fluffy sleeves, and sculptural bodice—and the star wore a fish-shaped, rose-covered headpiece to match. She wiped all the dark makeup off her eyes and lips, favoring subtle baby pink eyeshadow for the rest of the night.
