Staying warm and breezy this week
By Parker Cox - 25 News Now,
What we're tracking: Multiple low pressure systems exiting the Rockies this week and weekend will all track northeast bringing persistent southerly winds to the Crossroads. Continued southerly winds will keep bringing the warm moisture from the Gulf into the state. With moisture in place, spotty showers or weak thunderstorms are possible today and tomorrow with rain chances decreasing on Thursday and Friday cutting off before the weekend. Also with moisture in place, feels like heat indices will top the mid-upper 90s for the next week with mid-upper 80s air temperatures approaching near 90 some days. Breezy winds return tomorrow picking up over the weekend as low pressure systems build.
Next 24 hours: More warm and humid weather is expected today and tomorrow with today's weather similar to yesterday's. Mostly cloudy skies this morning will lift to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon with a slight chance of a spotty shower/thunderstorm in the area after a summer-like sea breeze advances in the late afternoon. Sunshine continuing today will bring highs in the upper 80s before dropping to the low 70s for low temperatures. Mostly cloudy skies are expected tomorrow with highs in the mid 80s. Breezy winds begin picking up tomorrow with gusts up to 30 mph possible at times. A spotty shower/thunderstorm is also possible.
Extended forecast: Warm 80s continue this week and likely throughout next week as well. Rain chances slowly cut off going into the weekend. No severe weather is expected. Cloud cover lightens up a tad as we go into the weekend and next week as well. Winds return tomorrow and pick up over the next several days. See below for more details on your 7 day extended forecast!
