    Times' Top Performances from last week: April 22-28

    Every Monday, the Beaver County Times will recognize both individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances that took place in the last week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from the week of April 22-28.

    BASEBALL

    Zach Hare, Riverside

    Hare got the job done on both sides for Riverside this week as on Monday on the bump, Hare went four innings striking out nine while allowing just two hits he also collected two hits in three at bats at the plate. Then on Tuesday, Hare went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs in Riverside’s 13-1 win and series sweep over Quaker Valley.

    Hunter Garvin, Riverside

    Garvin went an impressive 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs in the Panthers win over Quaker Valley. Then on Thursday, Garvin pieced together another nice line as he went 1-for-2 with a three run home run in the team’s 12-1 victory over North Catholic.

    Brock Budacki, New Brighton

    Budacki went 2-2 with two intentional passes in the team’s 5-4 victory on the road over Laurel on Monday.

    Iseia Schulz, OLSH

    Schulz put together a masterful performance on the mound for the Chargers as he through a six-inning no hitter collecting all of his outs in the contest via the strikeout, as he fanned 18 in the victory over Aliquippa. Along with the masterclass on the mound, Schulz also was productive at the plate going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs in the team’s win over the Quips.

    Sean Hudac, OLSH

    Hudac tossed a no-hitter in game two for the Chargers after Schulz pitched one in game one as Hudac struck out 10 in the team’s victory over the Quips.

    Brady Brazell, OLSH

    Brazell impressed for OLSH on Friday as he went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the team’s 9-0 win against Freedom Area on Friday.

    Jett Williams, Rochester

    Williams went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored in Rochester 12-11 loss against Carlynton on Monday.

    Connor Kunckle, Moon Area

    Kunckle put together an impressive line for Moon Area in its 8-7 win over Mars as he went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, a double and a three run home run in the team’s 8-7 win over the Fightin Planets.

    Joey Marasco, Moon Area

    Marasco allowed just two runs through 6.1 innings of work on Tuesday as he struck out two in the team’s victory over Mars.

    Ty Butler, Beaver Area

    Butler was solid for the Bobcats this week as he went 2-for-five with two RBIs while pitching three innings allowing just one run on tow hits while striking out four in the team’s 10-7 win over Ambridge. Following the win over the Bridgers, Butler would go 1-for-four on Tuesday with two RBIs as Beaver Area would split the series.

    Aaron Lake, Ellwood City

    Lake was impressive for the Wolverines this week as on Wednesday he went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the team’s 10-8 win over the Spartans. Then on Friday lake collected another multi-hit game going 2-for-3 with four RBIs in the team’s 13-3 win over Union. Finally on Saturday, Lake collected another two hits while driving in four runs in another blowout win over Union.

    SOFTBALL

    Emma Weaver, Central Valley

    Weaver was impressive for Central Valley in the circle and at the plate this week for the Warriors. On Monday she fanned 10 batters while only allowing two hits in five innings of work in the team’s 12-0 win over Quaker Valley. Following the win on Monday, She went 2-for-4 on Wednesday with one RBI in the team’s 18-8 win over Hopewell. Then on Friday, the junior went three innings while striking out seven batters in the team’s 15-0 win over Beaver Falls.

    Abigale Stewart, Central Valley

    Stewart did most of her damage at the plate this week as on Wednesday she went a perfect 4-for-4 driving in three runners in her team’s 18-8 win over Hopewell.

    Chloe Nale, Hopewell

    Nale was impressive this week for the Vikings as she went 2-for-4 on Monday with three Rbis in the team’s 26-0 win over Beaver Falls. Then on Wednesday she went 2-for-3 driving in two runs in the loss to Central Valley.

    Alison Delong, South Side

    Delong was dangerous for the Rams this past week as she went 3-for-5 on Monday with three RBIs in the team’s 15-8 win over Carlynton. Then on Friday she collected two hits while driving in six runs home in the team’s win over Rochester.

    Zoe Linder, Blackhawk

    Linder impressed once again for the Lady Cougars as she collected two multi-hit performances this past week. On Tuesday, Linder went a perfect 3-for-3 while driving in four runs in the team’s 17-1 win over Ambridge. Then on Wednesday, Linder was at it again as she collected two hits while driving in one run.

    GIRLS LACROSSE

    Lucy Roig, Quaker Valley

    Roig put together an impressive week for the Quakers as on Monday she tallied five goals in the team’s 18-0 win over Ambridge. Following the win on Monday she would collect three of her team’s six goals in Quaker Valley’s loss to Mars before tallying a hat trick in her team’s 16-1 victory over Trinity on Wednesday.

    Mia Piocquidio, Blackhawk

    Piocquidio was dominant once again for the Cougars as she tallied three goals in the team’s 15-1 win over Moon Area. Following the win over Moon Area she would net five goals in the team’s victory before scoring another four goals in the team’s loss to Chartiers Valley on Thursday. Following the loss to the Mustangs, Piocquidio scored seven goals in the team’s 21-3 victory over University High in West Virginia on Saturday.

    TRACK AND FIELD

    Nate Franitti, Blackhawk

    Franitti was awarded the MAC Invitational Most Valuable Performer at Shenango High School this past week as he placed fourth in the triple jump, second in long jump and was the top finisher in the high jump collecting 22 points for the Cougars in the meet.
