LYME, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Saturday, April 27, around 4 a.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a report of a domestic incident at 12840 State Route 12E in the Town of Lyme.

When deputies got to the residence, an adult man ran towards them brandishing a weapon. The deputies retreated while telling him to drop the weapon, but he did not, said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The man kept coming towards the deputies with the weapon, and they fired shots at him.

He was hit, and the deputies detained him and gave him treatment while waiting for EMS. The man was taken to Samaritan Medical Center and is in stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

New York State Police are handling the investigation at the request of Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Barnet.
