Sobriety checkpoint to take place in Lewis County

WESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A sobriety checkpoint is scheduled to take place in Lewis County Friday night.

According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, the checkpoint will be placed on Hackers Creek Rd. (County Route 7) near the Jane Lew Fire Department and the intersection of US Rt. 19 from 8:00 p.m. on May 3 until 2:00 a.m. on May 4.

The checkpoint is being conducted by the West Virginia State Police Weston Detachment along with the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention in order to deter impaired driving.

Should the checkpoint location become unusable or unsafe, it will be moved to a different place. Those wishing to avoid the checkpoint should plan on taking an alternative route of travel.
