Officials stated that court documents and testimony revealed that an investigation in 2022 by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration led to a 27-count federal indictment that resulted in the arrest of 11 defendants charged in a methamphetamine and heroin distribution operation in Laurens County. The investigation, per officials, resulted in several residential and vehicle searches, including the seizure of large quantities of cash, drugs, and guns.
