Fatal vehicle vs pedestrian crash in Liberty Co.

LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga (WSAV)- Police are investigating after a woman was hit and killed in Liberty County, late Friday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a vehicle vs pedestrian accident on State Route 119 (Airport Road) near State Route 196.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman was hit by a person driving a pickup truck.

After some investigation, it was determined that the woman was intoxicated and walked out into traffic in a dark and unlit area and was struck by a Dodge Ram.

The driver told authorities that he did not see the woman.

The victim was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, where she died from her injuries.

The identity of the pedestrian is currently unknown until the next of kin is notified.

This incident is still under investigation.
