Former Patriots offensive lineman Korey Cunningham was found dead at his New Jersey home Thursday, per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

The 28-year-old Alabama native was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. As a rookie, Cunningham played six games in Arizona before being traded to the Patriots in August 2019.

The Patriots released a statement on social media Friday morning in honor of the former player.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Korey’s family, teammates and all who mourn his loss,” the Patriots said.

Over two seasons in New England, Cunningham appeared in 12 games. The 6-foot-6, 311-pound OL was traded to his final team, the New York Giants in 2021 where he would ultimately play 13 games before a foot surgery ended his career in 2022.

According to Raanan, Cunningham will be remembered by peers for his “upbeat personality and big laugh.”

Former teammate Saquon Barkley took to X to express his dismay from the news. “Damn man,” the running back wrote.

While Clifton, N.J. police continue to investigate the offensive lineman’s death, they determined that “foul play is not suspected at this time,” a spokesperson told ESPN.
