SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Another bear was spotted roaming through a Spartanburg County resident’s driveway early Friday morning.

Thomas Floyd sent in a video of what appears to be a big black bear checking out two trash cans in his driveway around 4:38 a.m.

This happened about a mile from Amazon on John Dodd Road.

According to South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Public Information Officer Greg Lucas, April is the time of year that black bears in the Upstate are waking up from hibernation.

“There’s not a lot of natural food around for them to eat, so they’re roaming,” said Lucas.

This is the second bear sighting in this area.

We previously reported a bear walking in someone’s backyard along New Cut Road about a mile from International Drive.

DNR is asking residents to remove food sources such as trash, bird feeders and pet food. Once the food source is gone the bear will move along.
