Brent Walter, who refers to himself as a “maker and builder of a variety of things,” repurposed the Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 — aka the “Bug” — to create the VW Mini Bike, or what he fondly termed “Volkspod.” Like the car, the Volkspod is a beetle-shaped two-wheeler bike with a 79cc engine.

The mid to late-90s was a high time for the Volkswagen Beetle. Brent explained that merged the four vintage fenders of the old vehicle to form the headlight and tail of the Volkspod, which has more or just as much potential as the Beetle.

Explaining how he came about the creation, Brent revealed that he “wanted to practice welding the thin sheet metal panels. These fenders were left over from building my car,” adding that he began building the Volkspod in March 2019.

The petite scooter has a wide handlebar and is available in wholesome pastel colors such as birch green and blue. Like its parent vehicle, it looks straight out of the ‘90s and is perfect for anyone looking to add some retro aesthetic to their ride.

According to Brent’s comments on the Volkspod, the blue vehicle with “more ground clearance and a 212cc motor is more practical to ride around on the road.”

“The original green has a 79cc motor and is more for looks than it is practical,” he cautioned, adding that it is easy to find parts of old Beetles at swap meets in case anyone is wondering.

Brent often posts engines and whatever he is working on on his Instagram, which has nearly 32,000 followers. He showed off the blue and green recreated bikes in a viral post, which got over 24,000 likes. “I have Vespa, I have the beetle ……and now I’m fly away for this. Is there any store to find it?” one of Brent’s fans asked. “Love these!! You should definitely sell! Pleaseeeeee & if you do so, please let me know, thank you!!” another pleaded.
