Driver hospitalized after injury crash on SR-49

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Darke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an injury crash that took place Thursday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 3:26 p.m., deputies along with Arcanum Fire, Pitsburg Fire, Arcanum Rescue, and CareFlight were dispatched to State Route 49 South and alternate SR-49 North on reports of an injury accident.

Preliminary investigations reveal a black 20210 Honda Odyssey was stopped northbound on Alt. SR-49 North at SR-49 at the posted stop sign. The driver failed to yield after a stop sign, traveling into the path of a southbound 1995 Chevy truck.

Crash shuts down US-68 southbound

Both vehicles traveled off the left side of the roadway coming to rest in a ditch.

The driver of the Chevy truck was treated and released at the scene. The driver of the Honda Odyssey was extricated by mechanical means and transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Their condition is unknown at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
