Stepinac superstar headlines 2024 lohud boys basketball all-stars for Westchester/Putnam

After hours of debate and deliberations, we've made some decisions.

Here are the 2024 lohud boys basketball all-star teams, picked based on their impact this past high school season. Nominations were sent in by coaches and statistics were reviewed, along with strength of competition. Team success was a major factor, as well.

These are the names we landed on:

2024 lohud All-Stars for Westchester/Putnam

Player of the Year

Boogie Fland

School: Archbishop Stepinac

Year: Senior

Position: Guard

Highlights: Fland is a repeat lohud Player of the Year after delivering 19.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game. … His best moments came in meaningful games and the Bronx native led the Crusaders to a 26-4 record along with the CHSAA AA Intersectional championship for the second year in a row. … Fland was named CHSAA AA MVP and originally committed to Kentucky, but was recently released from his National Letter of Intent following the departure of coach John Calipari. … Fland participated in the McDonald's All-American game, the Nike Hoops Summit and the Jordan Brand Classic after the season. … He is currently mapping out campus visits before selecting the next stop and will graduate next month as the program's second all-time leading scorer behind R.J. Davis.

Logan McCormick

School: White Plains

Year: Senior

Position: Forward

Highlights: McCormick enjoyed a breakout season, averaging 19.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. ... He led White Plains to a 20-2 season that ended in a Section 1 Class AAA semifinal loss to Mount Vernon. ... McCormick was named Mr. Basketball by the Lower Hudson Basketball Coaches Association. ... He also picked up all-section and all-state honors.

Braylan Ritvo

School: Archbishop Stepinac

Year: Senior

Position: Forward

Highlights: Ritvo gave the Crusaders the hustle and muscle they needed to repeat as CHSAA AA Intersectional champions. ... He averaged 14.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. ... Ritvo shot 42 percent from behind the arc. ... The Quinnipiac signee was an All-CHSAA pick.

Tavien Tyler

School: Mount Vernon

Year: Junior

Position: Guard

Highlights: Tyler was almost unguardable by season's end. ... The 5-foot-7 whirlwind provided an inexperienced team with quiet leadership and confidence, helping the Knights go 14-7 and win an unexpected Section 1 Class AAA title. ... He averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game. ... Tyler is an all-section and all-state player who was also picked to the All-LHBCA First Team.

Cosmo Hardinson

School: Mamaroneck

Year: Senior

Position: Forward

Highlights: Hardinson went next level and led a Tigers roster that included seven underclassmen to an unprecedented 19-3 season that included the program's first league title. ... The Hartwick College recruit ranked among the most consistent producers in Section 1, averaging 17 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. ... Hardinson shot 60 percent from the field. ... He was named all-section, all-state and All-LHBCA First Team.

Coach of the Year

Tyrone Searight, Peekskill

Two years after taking over a struggling program, he choreographed a 24-2 season that culminated with a Section 1 Class AA title. The community got behind the playoff run and the Red Devils rewarded that faith with a 56-54 win over Suffern in the County Center. It was the program's first gold ball since 2009.
