Storms dump hail, prompt warnings in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS. Mich. (WOOD) — Several thunderstorms have produced hail in West Michigan Tuesday evening, prompting a tornado warning and severe thunderstorm warnings.

People in Kent County heard tornado sirens sound for a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service for Allegan and Barry counties. The threat was near the area of Middleville. The warning was canceled around 9:50 p.m. As of Tuesday evening, there have been no reports of damage.

Earlier in the evening, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Kent, Allegan, Barry and Ionia counties for hail up to one inch in diameter. It was canceled at 9:15. One-inch hail has been reported in Cannonsburg Township, with numerous, smaller reports across northern and eastern Kent County.
