Wasatch locals are lucky to have access to beautiful mountains in all four seasons. Many people who live in and around the central Wasatch spend time in different seasons exploring local trails, admiring stunning views, and skiing and riding. In order to be able to maintain the landscapes we all love, it's important that we as individuals and that places like ski areas and resorts, consider how to protect the outdoors as best as we can.

On Earth Day, many people are re-articulating their environmental commitment, including Snowbird. Located up Little Cottonwood Canyon, Snowbird posted on their Instagram this morning: "Grateful to call this magical place home. Happy Earth Day—today and every day—from our corner of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Learn more about Snowbird's environmental initiatives and commitment to caring for our surroundings via our "Play Forever" story highlight."

While Earth Day is a good reminder to care for our environments, we really should be doing that everyday. Do your part by thinking critically about issues like transportation and trail use, practicing Leave No Trace principles when you head outside, and thinking about how you can be a good environmental steward.

Connecting with the natural world can be an important part of reminding yourself why it's important to protect outdoor spaces, too. If that resonates with you, don't forget that Snowbird is open for skiing and riding through Memorial Day.
