VOTE for the North Jersey Baseball Player of the Week for April 14-20

After another action-packed week of the high school baseball season, it's time to look back on the best performances.

Read about the players who stood out and let us know who you think should be the North Jersey Player of the Week in the poll at the bottom of this page.

Voting closes at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Jason Alvarado

Ridgefield Park/Bogota sophomore

Alvarado drove the Scarlets (8-2) to a 3-0 week to extend their winning streak to four games. He was 9 for 10, with two walks, one hit by pitch, eight runs, nine RBIs and six steals.

Alex Bulger

Hackensack senior

Bulger pitched the Comets (8-3) to a 4-1 week and earned his third and fourth wins of the season. In 12 2/3 innings, he allowed two earned runs, seven hits, seven walks and struck out 13.

Jacob Greenberg

Fort Lee sophomore

Greenberg led the Bridgemen (7-4) to a 3-1 week. He was 6 for 13, with four runs and four RBIs. He threw a five-inning shutout, 10-0, over Ridgefield, with five hits, no walks and six strikeouts.

Rich Gutschmidt

Old Tappan senior

Gutschmidt pitched the Golden Knights (8-1) to two wins in a 4-0 week to stretch their winning streak to eight. In eight innings, he allowed no runs, seven hits, two walks and struck out four.

Cole Mauser

Saddle Brook senior

Mauser guided the Falcons (4-5) to a 2-1 week. He was 5 for 10, with two walks, five steals, eight runs and seven RBIs, including four steals and five RBIs in a 15-6 win over Hasbrouck Heights.

Daniel McClanahan

Mahwah senior

McClanahan drove the T-Birds (5-5) to a 3-1 week. He was 9 for 14, with multiple hits in five consecutive games and is hitting .500. He had three walks, one steal, eight runs and five RBIs.

Dean Qira

Wayne Hills senior

Qira led the Patriots (7-2) to a 2-1 week. He was 8 for 13, with two walks, two steals, three runs and an RBI. He threw 6 2/3 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Northern Highlands.

Trevor Rashcher

Clifton sophomore

Rashcher threw a seven-inning no hitter to carry the Mustangs (2-8) to a 7-0 victory over Bergen Tech. He walked three, struck out 11 and also contributed a single and drove in a run.

Brady Shust

St. Joseph sophomore

Shust powered the Green Knights (9-3) to a 5-0 week to stretch their winning streak to seven games. He was 9 for 16, featuring a grand slam. He had three runs and nine RBIs.

Christian Varano

Wayne Valley junior

Varano spearheaded the Indians (6-4) to a 4-0 week that extended their winning streak to six games. He was 7 for 13, with two doubles and a triple, three walks, eight runs and three RBIs.
