Saline County Sheriff’s Office makes arrest in deadly Saturday evening shooting

SALINE COUNTY, Ark. – Deputies with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office said a man is dead and another is in custody after a Saturday night shooting.

Officials with the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to Arch Street Pike around 10 p.m. after getting a 911 call from a driver about an unresponsive victim in his passenger seat.

The 19-year-old victim was later taken to a local hospital where he died Sunday.

SCSO officials said that the driver claimed that the vehicle that shot at them is one he had previously filed a report on for harassment.

After reviewing videos and pictures of the vehicle, deputies said they developed 20-year-old Jayeson Ashley as a suspect in the shooting.

Ashley was arrested and is being held at the Saline County Detention Center. Deputies said he is facing charges of second-degree murder, first-degree battery and aggravated assault.

Authorities added that Ashley’s sister, Ceara Force, was also taken into custody and is facing charges of obstruction and hindering apprehension.
