What's the weather Monday? Expect a cold front to push through with possible thunderstorms

While Palm Beach County enjoyed a day of clear skies and warm temperatures on Sunday, you can expect a cold front to push through the area on Monday bringing a chance for showers and thunderstorms

Showers and storms are expected to be more "isolated to scattered," with the highest chance during the afternoon to evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.

A few thunderstorms may become strong to severe with the biggest risks being for strong wind gusts and small hail.

The West Palm Beach area enjoyed a clear day with a high of around 87 degrees on Sunday, the last day of downtown's West Palm Beach's Green Market , with southeast winds around 15 mph.

Also, the annual Lyrid meteor shower peaks late Sunday into early Monday, although April's full pink moon will try to steal the show. An outburst of meteors from the Lyrids happens about every 60 years with the next one due in 2042.

Later on Monday, expect patchy fog in the early morning, then sunny skies and occasional thunderstorms, with a high around 84. Showers and thunderstorms likely will happen before 4 p.m. The chance for precipitation is 60%. Southwest winds start out from 7 to 14 mph an switch to northwest winds in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are expected but higher amounts are possible.

There is a moderate chance for dangerous rip currents on Monday.

Thunderstorms are again likely Monday night, with temperatures dipping into in the low 60s. There's a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Winds will be from the north about 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

A cool-down starts Tuesday, with highs reaching only about 81, followed by a high of 83 on Wednesday, then the week starts slowly warming up. Lows Tuesday night could be in the very low 60s.

There is a high risk of hazardous rip currents on Tuesday through the week, according to the National Weather Service.
