Former ESPN NFL analyst Todd McShay addressed fans Friday about his current situation, vowing “I can’t wait to get back out there …”

McShay was part of ESPN’s round of layoffs in June 2023 . He joined the network in 2006, and in his most visible role, had been part of ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage every year since 2009.

This year’s draft is coming up next week. McShay said he will not be covering the event for anyone else because of “obvious contract limitations,” likely referring to a contract buyout from ESPN that prevents him from going to another outlet.

“Just want to take a minute to say thank you!” McShay wrote. “The outpouring of support during draft season has been noticed and greatly appreciated. As for next week’s draft, I’m sitting this one out on TV due to obvious contract limitations but it’s business as usual around here!  You can catch me on God Bless Football today, as well as @PardonMyTake and @ryenrussillo podcast next week.”

McShay also urged fans to give ESPN’s Steve Muench a follow on X (@ScoutsIncMuench), calling him “my right-hand man the past two decades.”

“Thanks again for all the support and inquiries on where to find me during the 2024 draft,” McShay said. “I can’t wait to get back out there and will keep you posted on what’s coming next!”

While Todd McShay won’t be a part of any network’s draft coverage this year, it’ll be interesting to see where he does land once his contract situation after the ESPN layoff gets resolved.
