Conor McGregor has been drug tested while training in an Irish gym as he gears up for his UFC comeback against Michael Chandler . The Notorious is set to face the American fighter at UFC 303 in Las Vegas this June, marking his first bout in nearly three years.
The Crumlin native has ramped up his training regime recently and took to social media to post a series of workout photos early Thursday morning.
McGregor , a former dual-division champion, completed ten rounds wearing 18oz boxing gloves in what looks like a personal gym setup and was subject to a standard drug test during the session.
Sharing updates on his training, McGregor wrote: "Ten rounds in the 18oz. Drug tested . Hair cut."
It's been a while since fans have seen McGregor in the octagon; his last appearance ended with a gruesome leg injury during his trilogy scrap with Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Since then, his record boasts only a single victory in over seven years a swift 40-second takedown of Donald Cerrone in early 2020.
Chandler, too, faced defeat at the hands of Poirier, who is slated to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title come early June. In his most recent fight, Chandler succumbed to a rear-naked choke submission in November 2022, reports the Irish Mirror .
Dana White, the head honcho of UFC, has confirmed that the McGregor vs. Chandler showdown is scheduled for June 29, following the landmark UFC 300 event last weekend.
He stated: "There's all kinds of things that go on behind the scenes and it's all about timing. Chandler's been ready but Conor hasn't been ready. We talked about this in one of the press conferences recently, he had a lot of obligations that he had to deal with. What you don't want him doing is accepting a fight when he's got a ton of obligations and he can't train 100% for a fight, so here we are tonight."
