SNAP tokens

Also new, at the Ambridge market only: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) tokens will be accepted by vendors who enroll. SNAP helps eligible low-income households buy nutritious food. Those who are eligible receive an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) access card.

Beaver County Farmers Markets will collaborate with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and Riverwise of Beaver County to accept SNAP/EBT tokens, intended for recipients to be able to purchase directly from local growers and vendors.

Riverwise will be at the Ambridge market to distribute tokens to eligible recipients. Currently, 10 of the Ambridge vendors are enrolled to accept SNAP, a voluntary program. The program should start early this summer when there's an abundance of local products available for purchase. For more information on Riverwise, go to GetRiverWise.com.
