FOSTERS, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A gas station employee at the Fosters Chevron is recovering after she was brutally beaten by a group of people Monday.

“It’s pretty upsetting but it is what it is, I am alive but I am more fearful for them and I pray none of them have to encounter what I did,” the victim said.

For fear of retaliation, the 27-year-old victim did not want CBS 42 to show her face or use her name.

Report: Tuscaloosa one of the worst cities in the US for fraud

According to Sergeant Josh Hastings with the Criminal Investigation Division at the Sheriff’s Office, two juveniles and eight adults started the fight after an altercation inside the gas station.

“We are not going to tolerate it, and the community does not deserve it. I think it is sad when you have incidents like this occur, and this happens nationwide. We will not tolerate and will investigate this, and make sure we hold those accountable,” Hastings said.

Hastings said the group of 10 suspects kicked the victim and punched her in the face. She suffered several injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The victim says she is praying for all the people who assaulted her.

“I am ok, but I could but I could have died. I have two kids and their mom might not have come back home, but I did,” the woman said. “I pray for their future and that’s all I can do.”

Investigators are planning to pursue criminal charges against all the 10 suspects who allegedly attacked the victim.
