GBI arrests former Pinewood Christian staff member

EVANS COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – State authorities have now arrested a former staff member at Pinewood Christian Academy.

Joshua Garrett Blaxton, 35, of Reidsville is being charged with sexual exploitation of children, enticing a child for indecent purposes and improper sexual contact by an employee.

According to the GBI, the investigation uncovered that Blaxton sent explicit, nude photographs of himself to female high school students at Pinewood Christian Academy. Blaxton was employed as a teacher and coach at the time. In addition, he allegedly solicited explicit photos and sex from at least one student.

On April 12, the private school’s administration made a complaint to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) saying there was “improper use of digital and social media” between students and the staff member.

In an email to parents on Monday, April 15, the head of school explained the staff member resigned from his position last week “due to some unforeseen circumstances.”

“We have implemented a plan to assist in the areas that will need help with this change and serve our students who may be impacted. If patrons have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Administration,” the email read.

Blaxton is currently booked at the Tattnall County Jail.
