CLAY COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Dozens of cattle have been stolen from a Texas cattle ranch, prompting Crime Stoppers and deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to ask for the public’s help.

On April 5, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., JW Cattle Company reported to CCSO that about 40 cows and the ranch’s bull were missing from their ranch. Clay County is east of Wichita Falls.

This incident reportedly took place sometime from February 2024 until April 4, 2024, Crime Stoppers officials said.

The cows were a mixture of Black Baldies and Black Angus. The total loss is estimated at $100,000, officials said.

While there are no suspects at this time, a neighbor in the area saw a tan pickup truck with a cattle trailer near one of the ranch’s gates. The vehicle was reportedly seen days before ranch employees found the cattle were missing.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is requesting any information regarding this recent theft.
